Emerging Canadian writer/producer/director Dave McLeod got his first taste of the film industry while working in press and theatres at a variety of top film festivals (Toronto, Miami, Sprockets). It was through this experience that he found his first on-set volunteer job, as a Production Assistant, on a short film at the Canadian Film Centre. This would be a turning point, as he decided to switch gears and instead of working around films that have been completed, to working on making films of his own.
After leaving the festival circuit, Dave focused on writing. Many of his feature and short scripts have placed well in writing competitions. He has also received writing contracts with Decode Entertainment as a Story Editor and Keystone Entertainment for a script rewrite.
Dave’s first film, THE ROOM, was a stop-motion animated piece that screened in the UK, US and Canada. It was also a semi-finalist for the National Screen Institute’s National Exposure competition in 2006. After this film, Dave became immersed in the Guelph film community, following up on his stop-motion short and a slur of short films, which include, THE INTERVIEW, TELL ME A SECRET and JANUS.
